Over the last few weeks we have been enjoying some time in our garden making our little family a herb and vegetable garden.
On the first weekend we made the garden out of bricks and bought some quality soil from a local supplier.
On the second weekend we went and bought the following plants:
Birds eye Chilli
Coriander (It was a bit shocked from being transplanted but with some TLC it is now thriving).
And Thyme. We also bought 4 more strawberry plants.
Last weekend (the third weekend), we went and bought another chilli plant, chives, thai basil and a few different types of heirloom tomatoes. There are a few more spaces that we are trying to decide on what we will grow in them.
Can’t wait till they all grow big and strong. Nothing beats fresh, healthy, flavour filled food.
We really enjoyed Jamie Oliver’s crunchy garlic chicken strips. They were so fresh and yummy but I did find the coating was quick to burn so I will fry them up a little more gently next time. I served them up with a super quick green salad which I made in my food processor, it was seriously the quickest salad I have ever made.
I have been dreaming of a Thermomix for years and just making do with my limited kitchen appliances in the hope of magically one day being able to afford one. Something always comes up… anyway I digress.
For a very early birthday present my wonderful mother bought me a large and totally awesome food processor. It arrived on Friday and I have been dying to post about it ever since.
It is a Phillips Jamie Oliver 1000W. It has a 3.4 L bowl and 8 different accessories so that you can slice, beat, juice, knead, chop, cream, crumble, cut, fold, mash and mince. I am loving it.
So far I have used it to make orange juice, pure banana ice-cream, CADA, breakfast bread, crispy garlic chicken strips, salad, cocktails, butter, chocolate buttermilk muffins, creamy cauliflower pasta sauce and beef burger patties.
