3 Wishes

You know how everyone wishes for world peace, once upon a time I would have said world peace too. These days I am feeling rather tired, burnt and angry.

If someone granted me 3 wishes I would ask for everyone to be granted with:

1. True happiness – the type of happiness you see in the eyes of an innocent child.

2. Honesty – I’d wish for the truth. There is so much pain in life. So many lies. I would love to wake up in the morning knowing that my loved ones won’t be lied to. That the promises made in friendship and by businesses were kept.

3. Recognition – I would love to know that hard work, dedication and loyalty were respected, recognised and rewarded. There is only so far someone can be pushed. If hard work is not recognised, respected and rewarded then what incentive is there to keep going?

I am so lucky that what I do every day is recognised. I am deeply saddened to know that so many people aren’t recognised. They work hard in the work place and/or at home to get no thanks. If my wishes were granted I’m pretty certain the world would be a happier place.

What would you wish for?

It is my knit-versary!

I can’t believe that I have been knitting for a year today!
Thanks to Meg for inspiring, enabling, encouraging me to give it a go. Without your kindness, generosity and patience it would not have been possible.

Thanks to Marty for understanding my need to have a hobby, encouraging me every step of the way, putting up with me playing youtube clips over and over again and for not getting openly frustrated with my special kind of crazy.

Thank you to everyone for your words of encouragement along the way.

As crazy and ‘old Nanna’ as it sounds I certainly enjoy my hobby. This is what my year of knitting looks like.

This was my first project, a Milo.

My Hoodie (Coastal Hoodie) This one has been EPIC but is going to be a beautiful hoodie when it is finally finished. Halfway through the button band and still have the long sleeves to go.

blanketLastly, a blanket I am working on for my gorgeous sister. I am not following a pattern for this one. Just knitting like crazy trying to get through the first ball.

Sadly I don’t get much time to knit so it takes quite a while to get through each project. I look forward to many more.

Making my first button band

There has been some process. I have completed the body and the hood of my coastal hoodie and I’m now working on the never ending button band.

This has really been an epic and therapeutic knit for me. It has taken so very long to get this far (with my 2 boys I don’t get much time to knit) and I have learnt so much along the way. I am very proud of the progress I have made. 🙂

I am loving my hoodie. This is a quick snap of the hem ❤ please excuse the photo quality.

Day 2 – My fitness challenge

20130802-152208.jpg

I am unfit. Very, very unfit but I look forward to changing that.
Almost forgot to workout today. I can honestly say that I am running on an empty sleep bank and my mind isn’t very clear.

Like normal, I popped Charlie down for his nap, grabbed my bottle of water, my knitting and sat on my comfortable couch. Oh and how comfortable my couch felt! Looked up and saw the cross trainer.Thankfully we have it set up in the corner of our lounge-room, opposite my favourite couch. It seems to be a great place to have it because it is a nice reminder. I know 2 days does not make a habit but it is a step in the right direction.

Tonight I was thinking of trying this easy budget paleo chicken and spinach dish (served with rice for the boys). It looks super yummy.

Digging deep

20130802-111800.jpg
Digging deep to find enough energy to get through today. I’ve already had today’s coffee quota so I’m hanging out to hit the cross trainer in the hope those exercise endorphins can get me through the day. 1.5 litres of water down. 🙂

Must re-train my brain. Currently it is under the impression that sleep would be better.

One day at a time 😉

Look what I made – Artisian No-Knead Bread

20130729-153559.jpg
This is seriously the easiest to make and tastiest homemade bread!

It is a lovely soft bread with an awesome crunchy crust. When my friend shared this no-knead bread recipe I was very curious so I clicked on the link and was delighted to see how easy it looked. It is seriously as simple as it looks and has no nasties in it. I seriously suggest trying it. Don’t be put off by the amount of time you wait before baking it; it is worth it. 🙂
If you do make it or have made it before, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Winning.
